# Scientists Just Accidentally Discovered a Strange, Hidden Rule of Human Nature

> **Open Intelligence Dossier** · First detected: 2026-06-11 17:26 UTC · Category: World

## Executive Summary
New scientific research reveals a consistent, inherent human tendency to veer counterclockwise when walking, whether alone or in crowds.

## Intelligence Brief
Coverage from ZME Science, Phys.org, The Guardian, Nature, The New York Times, and 404 Media emphasizes that this phenomenon acts as a fundamental rule of human nature. These outlets highlight that the preference for left-leaning movement manifests across various settings.

Future reports may clarify the specific biological or psychological mechanisms driving this locomotor bias. Coverage does not yet specify if this behavior influences urban infrastructure design or long-term navigation habits.
