## Executive Summary
YouTube has reintroduced in-app direct messaging for users in the United States, marking a return of the feature after a six-year absence.

## Intelligence Brief
YouTube is rolling out a new in-app messaging feature that allows users to communicate directly within the platform. The update includes functionality for both in-app sharing and private, invite-only chats.

Coverage from outlets including The Verge, 9to5Google, Mashable, and the YouTube Official Blog confirms the feature is currently expanding to the U.S. market. Reports characterize the move as a revival of a messaging capability that was previously removed from the platform in 2020.

Future developments depend on the platform's official rollout schedule. Coverage does not yet specify when the messaging feature will expand to regions outside of the United States or whether additional communication tools will be integrated.
