The brief

Electronic Arts (EA) has announced the shutdown of online services for *Grid Legends*, a racing game developed by Codemasters and released in 2022 for PS5 and PS4. The servers will close in September 2026, ending multiplayer and online functionality for the title, which had been praised for its arcade-style racing and accessibility.

Coverage emphasizes the game’s underrated status despite critical acclaim, with outlets like *games.gg* and *GameSpot* framing it as part of a broader trend of early shutdowns for niche or less commercially successful titles. *PlayStation LifeStyle* highlights the abruptness of the decision, noting the game’s relatively recent release. *Traxion.GG* and *Push Square* focus on the impact on players who rely on online features. Watch for potential community backlash or preservation efforts, such as unofficial server projects or archival drives.

EA’s decision may also prompt comparisons to other recent game shutdowns, particularly for titles with dedicated but smaller player bases.
