Canada’s food security strategy escalates as geopolitical tensions tighten supply chains

## Intelligence Brief
Canada’s federal government has launched a multibillion-dollar national food strategy aimed at stabilizing grocery prices amid rising concerns over supply chain vulnerabilities. Coverage highlights the strategy’s focus on increasing competition among grocery retailers, expanding indoor farming capacity, and addressing structural inefficiencies in the food supply chain.

Outlets including *CTV News*, *CBC*, and *Global News* emphasize the challenges of scaling indoor farming quickly, while *Supermarket News* and *Yahoo Finance* frame the policy as a response to both economic pressures and geopolitical risks. Watch for details on how the strategy will be funded and implemented, as well as potential industry pushback or regulatory hurdles.

The US-Canada trade dynamic remains a wildcard—any further escalation in trade rhetoric could accelerate Canada’s push for food independence.
