# Defense minister says Israel won’t withdraw from land seized in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza

> **Open Intelligence Dossier** · First detected: 2026-06-15 10:07 UTC · Category: World

## Executive Summary
Geopolitical shifts emerge as a US-Iran deal takes shape while Israel maintains territorial control in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza.

## Intelligence Brief
A tentative ceasefire has been reached between the US and Iran, prompting plans to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Despite this diplomatic movement, the Israeli defense minister has stated that Israel will not withdraw from land seized in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza. Additionally, Lebanon has issued warnings to displaced residents regarding the safety of returning to their homes.

Reports indicate the deal coincides with G7 meetings. Separately, the BBC and Reuters note that a London court has convicted two men of arson attacks targeting property linked to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, with allegations of Russian involvement. Future developments remain dependent on the implementation of the US-Iran ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

It is currently unclear how these diplomatic changes will impact the status of Israeli-held territories. Coverage does not yet specify the full terms of the agreement or the long-term stability of the region.
