## Executive Summary
Epic Games announces a ground-up rebuild of its launcher featuring significantly faster boot times and new community features.

## Intelligence Brief
Recent technology reporting outlines major planned updates for the Epic Games Store as the platform details a comprehensive roadmap for its desktop launcher. According to coverage from outlets including XDA, Engadget, and IGN, the platform is working on a ground-up rebuild designed to deliver significantly faster boot times. Specifically, the updated launcher aims to achieve performance speeds up to five times faster than its current iteration. Alongside these performance enhancements, the platform is introducing several long-awaited user-facing features intended to modernize the interface and expand its core functionality for everyday players. The coverage from XDA, Engadget, and IGN heavily emphasizes the addition of profiles, user reviews, and controller support as central pillars of this upcoming release.

These specific feature additions are frequently framed within the broader context of direct industry competition, specifically noting that the updates are intended to help the storefront better compete with established platforms like Steam. The reporting highlights that these additions represent a substantial shift for the storefront, which has historically lacked several of the standard community features found on rival digital distribution services. While the current coverage outlines the broad strokes of the upcoming roadmap and the specific performance goals set by the company, extensive contextual background on the exact release dates or technical implementation details remains limited. According to the available articles, the rollout represents a concerted effort to address long-standing user criticisms regarding the launcher's speed and feature set. Coverage does not yet specify a precise timeline for when the ground-up rebuild or individual features such as reviews and profiles will officially roll out to the public.

Moving forward, technology observers and users will be tracking official announcements from the company to see when these promised changes transition from roadmap concepts to live features. Future reporting will likely monitor the rollout of the five-times-faster boot times to verify performance metrics against the initial claims. Additionally, coverage will likely examine how user adoption responds once profiles, reviews, and controller support finally become available on the platform, determining whether these updates successfully shift user engagement relative to competitors like Steam.
