# The Voyager 1 probe, launched in 1977, is now so far from Earth that a radio signal travelling at the speed of light takes over 22 hours to reach it, and it is still sending data back from interstellar space on a power source the size of a car battery

## Executive Summary
NASA's Voyager 1 continues to transmit data from interstellar space 48 years after its initial launch, maintaining communication across a 22-hour signal lag.

## Intelligence Brief
Voyager 1 remains operational in interstellar space nearly five decades after its 1977 launch. The spacecraft currently operates using a power source described as the size of a car battery, with signal transit times exceeding 22 hours due to the distance from Earth.

Coverage from outlets including Space Daily, Business Today, and The Times of India highlights the probe's endurance and the technical efforts involved in its longevity. Reports specifically note the 2024 intervention by engineers who successfully relocated code around a failed memory chip to restore functionality after the craft transmitted gibberish.

Future reports will track the probe's continued progress toward space travel milestones. Coverage does not yet specify the long-term sustainability of the power source or potential future technical challenges as the probe moves further into deep space.
