## Intelligence Brief
According to coverage from outlets including MLB.com, The New York Times, Yahoo Sports, CBS Sports, and the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani is dealing with a left knee issue that has altered his immediate schedule. Coverage states that Ohtani was scratched from his scheduled Friday pitching start and will not participate in the upcoming All-Star Game. Despite being pulled from his pitching appearance due to knee pain and irritation, Ohtani still managed to hit a leadoff home run. Reports from outlets such as TribLIVE.com and LancasterOnline further specify that Ohtani is scheduled to have his left knee drained on Sunday as part of his ongoing treatment. Numerous sports publications have tracked the unfolding news closely, emphasizing the sudden nature of the announcement for fans and the team alike.

Yahoo Sports, NBC Sports, Fox News, ESPN, and USA Today report that the Los Angeles Dodgers plan to actively manage the player's nagging injury moving forward. Dodgers Way notes that the update blindsided fans. Meanwhile, Yahoo Sports and other outlets detail the broader roster implications, including the adjustment of the Dodgers' starting pitcher rotation for the game against the Diamondbacks and the subsequent selection of Ivan Herrera to the All-Star roster following Ohtani's withdrawal from the event. Context provided across the headlines highlights the dual-threat nature of Ohtani's role with the Los Angeles Dodgers, balancing pitching duties and batting responsibilities. The sudden appearance of left knee irritation forced immediate operational changes by the team management, leading to the decision to skip the All-Star Game entirely and cancel travel plans for the festivities.

Coverage does not yet specify a definitive timeline for Ohtani's return to the pitching rotation beyond the immediate treatment plans scheduled for Sunday. As the situation develops, observers and fans are closely monitoring announcements from the Los Angeles Dodgers regarding the outcome of Ohtani's Sunday knee procedure and subsequent medical updates. Coverage indicates that manager commentary and official team press releases will provide further clarity on how the franchise intends to handle the nagging injury during the second half of the season. Future reports are expected to confirm the exact duration of Ohtani's absence from pitching duties and any ongoing modifications to his batting appearances.
