## Executive Summary
Spain and Argentina prepare for a historic World Cup final showdown at MetLife Stadium following dramatic semifinal matches.

## Intelligence Brief
Coverage from major outlets including The New York Times, Yahoo Sports, NBC News, NPR, and the Los Angeles Times highlights the culmination of the tournament featuring Spain and Argentina. The matchup places stars Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal on soccer's biggest stage to chase history. Alongside the athletic competition, political developments surround the fixture, with AP News and CBS News reporting that the Mexican president will attend the World Cup final at Trump's invitation amid trade tensions. Earlier in the tournament trajectory, Spain secured their berth through a surprise rout of France in the semifinals.

According to Variety, Spain's semifinal victory over France averaged 11.5 million viewers on Fox, marking the most-watched semifinals game ever on English-language U.S. television. Outlets such as The Guardian, Le Monde, and The Irish Times detailed how Spain picked apart a powerless France, with Lamine Yamal contributing via a sneaky play despite not scoring himself. ESPN, Al Jazeera, Reuters, USA Today, and Yahoo Sports covered reactions from Kylian Mbappé, who blamed technical and tactical blunders and criticized sloppy play, while remaining in the Golden Boot mix alongside Lionel Messi. Meanwhile, France coach Didier Deschamps slammed the referee and conceded that his team was second best, and coach De la Fuente hailed Spain as the best team in the world.

As the tournament reaches its final stages, attention shifts toward the decisive championship encounter. ESPN also noted broader cultural moments around the event, such as an all-star selfie featuring Messi, Brady, and Durant alongside third-place playoff buildup between France and England. Current coverage does not yet specify the ultimate winner of the final match, leaving followers to watch live broadcasts for the final outcome.
