The live-action adaptation of 'Moana' is centering Pacific Island authenticity through the guidance of the Oceanic Story Trust and cultural specialists.

## Intelligence Brief
The creative team behind the live-action adaptation of 'Moana' is focusing heavily on the preservation and honor of Polynesian culture and traditions. According to reporting from Variety, the production is working closely with cultural experts to ensure a respectful depiction of the region. Central to this process is the Oceanic Story Trust, which The Nerds of Color reports is working with the cast to ground the magical elements of the story in a way that honors the legacy of the Pacific Islands. This collaborative effort aims to balance the fantasy elements of the film with genuine cultural grounding during the transition to a live-action format. Multiple media outlets are highlighting the specific contributors bringing authenticity to the project.

K-Jewel 99.3 FM reports that Opetaia Foa'i views the integration of Pacific Island languages as a significant win for the film's authenticity. Meanwhile, ABC News focuses on the contributions of choreographer Tiana Liufau, who is utilizing dance as a primary medium for preserving her culture within the movie. The scale of representation extends to the cast as well, with ABC7 Bay Area reporting on 11-year-old star Amaya Masoli, who has spoken about the importance of Samoan culture and representation in her role. Local interest in the production is high due to the involvement of regional talent from California. ABC30 Fresno notes that the new live-action film features a brother and sister from California's Central Valley.

This focus on real-world representation is paired with the high-level structural guidance of the Oceanic Story Trust, as mentioned by The Nerds of Color, to ensure the project does not deviate from the actual traditions of the people it depicts. The effort represents a concerted push to move beyond surface-level aesthetics and instead integrate language, dance, and lineage into the core of the production. Looking forward, the coverage suggests a continued emphasis on the intersection of representation and cultural accuracy. Observers can expect more details on how Tiana Liufau's choreography and the linguistic contributions highlighted by K-Jewel 99.3 FM will manifest on screen. The involvement of the Oceanic Story Trust indicates that the production's commitment to honoring Polynesian legacy will likely remain a central pillar of its promotional and creative strategy as the live-action version progresses toward release.
