> **Open Intelligence Dossier** · First detected: 2026-07-13 00:07 UTC · Category: Sports

## Executive Summary
The Boston Red Sox enter the All-Star break after securing nine consecutive road victories, a franchise achievement not seen since 1977.

## Intelligence Brief
The Boston Red Sox have concluded the first half of the 2026 season by defeating the New York Mets with a final score of 3-2. According to reports from ESPN and Over the Monster, the victory was a comeback effort that capped off a significant winning streak. This result completed a series sweep for the Red Sox against the Mets. The winning effort was powered by two home runs, as detailed by the Boston Herald, and resulted in the Red Sox securing their ninth straight win, all of which occurred on the road. This specific sequence of away victories marks a team feat for the franchise that has not occurred since 1977. Coverage from The New York Times, MLB.com, and ESPN emphasizes the historical nature of this road streak, noting that the team is surging into the All-Star break.

While the Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox are now just a half-game away from a wild-card spot, other outlets focus on the opposing side of the matchup. Amazin' Avenue and Yahoo Sports highlight that the Mets wasted a strong performance, described as a gem, from Thornton. The coverage underscores a stark contrast in momentum between the two clubs as they head into the mid-season hiatus. Context for this trend is found in the struggling performance of the New York Mets. According to FOX Sports and CBS News, the Mets have stumbled to a record of 40-57. This mark represents the worst first half of a season for the Mets franchise since 1995.

Yahoo Sports further notes that the first half of the 2026 season has been a nightmare for the team, specifically mentioning a costly error that drew reactions from the team and player Francisco Lindor. Looking forward, the Red Sox will enter the All-Star break with significant momentum and a position nearly within reach of a wild-card spot. The Mets must address a record that is historically poor for the organization. Coverage does not specify the exact date of the All-Star break's conclusion, but the focus remains on whether the Red Sox can maintain their road success and if the Mets can recover from their worst start in over three decades.
