## Executive Summary
NASA has commenced rocket assembly and revealed revised orbital testing procedures ahead of the 2027 Artemis III mission.

## Intelligence Brief
NASA is currently stacking flight hardware at the Kennedy Space Center as part of preparations for the Artemis III astronaut launch scheduled for 2027. The assembly process for the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket marks a transition into the construction phase of the mission. Coverage from outlets including NASA, Space, The Register, and Tech Times highlights a shift in mission strategy.

This involves testing commercial lunar landers and conducting docking rehearsals in low Earth orbit. The revised mission architecture requires multiple rockets to complete objectives, with software protocols in place for the Orion spacecraft to transfer control to Starship mid-mission. Future developments will focus on the execution of orbital docking demonstrations involving SpaceX and Blue Origin.

Performance outcomes from these rehearsals will determine the operational path for the planned landing. Specific technical success criteria for the docking sequence have not yet been fully detailed by the agency.
