## Intelligence Brief
The production 'The Whoopi Monologues' has officially opened Off-Broadway at the Lincoln Center Theater's Mitzi E. The opening night event featured a high-profile guest list, including Whoopi Goldberg, Kerry Washington, and Angela Bassett, according to reporting from Page Six and Broadway Shows. Additionally, People.com noted that Reese Witherspoon attended the celebration. In a notable personal detail reported by parade.com, Whoopi Goldberg's 52-year-old daughter made a rare public appearance alongside her mother during the festivities. The event has been documented through various show photos released by Broadway Shows and Playbill. Critical coverage of the production is extensive, with reviews appearing in The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, TheaterMania, and exeuntnyc.com.

The New York Times describes the production as an expansion of a one-woman show, while the Wall Street Journal refers to the work as Goldberg Variations. Interestingly, TheaterMania provided a review stating that the production shines even in the absence of Whoopi Goldberg herself. These diverse perspectives from major publications highlight the theatrical ambition of the piece and its reception among New York City's professional critics upon its debut. Contextually, the production has expanded its cast shortly before its opening. This addition marks a significant casting update for the production as it moves into its public run. The interest surrounding the show is driven not only by the presence of Goldberg but by the ensemble of talent associated with the project and the prestige of the Lincoln Center venue.

Observers will likely monitor the continuing run at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater to see how the expanded cast, including Jurnee Smollett, impacts the performance dynamics. Future coverage may focus on whether the show continues to attract the celebrity presence seen on opening night or how the 'variations' mentioned by the Wall Street Journal are received by wider audiences. For now, the focus remains on the initial critical reception and the high-profile nature of the opening night guests as documented by the various entertainment and news agencies.
