According to NHL.com, this home opener, which is presented by Coca-Cola, will take place on Wednesday, September 30. The event marks the start of the regular season for both franchises, with the Penguins beginning their campaign on the road in Philadelphia. Beyond the initial matchup, the Flyers' schedule for the opening week includes a back-to-back set of games, which will see them travel to face the New Jersey Devils. Coverage of the schedule release has been highlighted by several sports outlets, including NBC Sports Philadelphia, which noted the significance of the September start date.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh-based outlets such as PensBurgh and Pittsburgh Hockey Now have confirmed the road start for the Penguins and shared a teaser of the team's early schedule, which includes hosting the Montreal Canadiens and facing the Washington Capitals shortly after the season begins. The Penguins' early-season trajectory is similarly dense, with a quick succession of games against the Flyers, the Canadiens, and the Capitals. Looking ahead, the focus remains on the execution of these early-season matchups. According to the reported schedule, the Flyers will first need to manage the home opener on September 30 before shifting their operations to face the Devils. For the Pittsburgh Penguins, the primary immediate milestones include their road trip to Philadelphia and the subsequent return home to host the Montreal Canadiens. Coverage does not yet specify the exact dates for the games against the Capitals or the Canadiens, but they are identified as early-season fixtures that will follow the initial clash in Philadelphia.
