## Executive Summary
The Vera C. Rubin Observatory in Chile begins a ten-year mission to create a cinematic wide-field survey of the night sky.

## Intelligence Brief
Rubin Observatory, located in Chile, is initiating a decade-long mission focused on filming the universe. According to coverage from Reuters, this project represents a massive effort to capture a long-term movie of the night sky. This endeavor is characterized by the use of the world's largest digital camera, which will be the primary tool used to document celestial movements and changes over the next ten years. The project marks the start of a significant era in astronomical observation, focusing on wide-field sky surveys to map the cosmos. Various outlets have highlighted the technical scale and international nature of the project.

IFLScience emphasizes the role of the world's largest digital camera in capturing this ten-year cinematic record of space. Meanwhile, Hungary Today reports that Hungarian scientists are part of the team involved in what is described as the most ambitious sky survey ever conducted. New Scientist describes the anticipation surrounding the observatory's start next year, while Devdiscourse situates the project within a broader context of scientific exploration across space, skies, and seas. To understand the significance of this event, coverage from 동아사이언스 notes that the Vera Rubin Observatory is launching this era of wide-field sky surveys alongside the Roman Space Telescope. These two projects together represent a shift toward more comprehensive mapping of the universe.

The scale of the digital camera and the duration of the ten-year survey indicate a shift toward time-domain astronomy, where the goal is not just to take static images but to observe the evolution of the night sky over a prolonged period of time. Looking forward, the coverage indicates that the observatory is expected to get fully started next year. Observers and researchers will be watching the deployment of the world's largest digital camera as it begins its long-term recording process. The collaboration between the Rubin Observatory and the Roman Space Telescope will be a key point of focus as they execute these wide-field surveys. The ongoing contributions of international teams, including the Hungarian scientists mentioned by Hungary Today, will be central to the data collection and analysis over the coming decade.
