## Executive Summary
Square Enix and Tencent are shutting down Final Fantasy XIV Mobile in China and canceling its global release on September 30, 2026.

## Intelligence Brief
The mobile adaptation of Final Fantasy XIV is scheduled to end its service in China on September 30, 2026. According to reports from Gematsu and Nova Crystallis, the decision includes the total cancellation of the game's planned global version. Massively Overpowered identifies the operator of the mobile title as Tencent, noting that the service is effectively sunsetting within the Chinese market. This means that the game will be permanently shut down, rendering it unplayable for the millions of gamers who accessed the title, as highlighted by coverage from Polygon.com. Multiple gaming news outlets have tracked the shutdown, with Siliconera, AltChar, and MMORPG.com all confirming that the global release was canceled before it ever launched. The News International and OpenCritic focused on the specific timeline, emphasizing that the end of service occurs on September 30.

The coverage across these platforms underscores a complete cessation of operations for the title. While some reports focus on the immediate loss of the Chinese service, others highlight the disappointment regarding the global version that failed to reach the international market. Contextual reports from Notebookcheck and Rock Paper Shotgun indicate a wider trend of shutdowns within the franchise. Notebookcheck reports that Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis is also shutting down in October 2026. Rock Paper Shotgun specifically notes that the closure of the Ever Crisis prequel phone game means it will remain unplayable, particularly regarding its status as a Japan-only title. This suggests a broader pattern of service terminations for mobile entries in the Final Fantasy series occurring during the latter half of 2026.

Observers should monitor the final days of service leading up to the September 30 deadline for Final Fantasy XIV Mobile. Based on the stated facts, there is no remaining path for a global release. Attention is also directed toward October 2026, which marks the scheduled shutdown of Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis. The coverage does not specify the reasons for these cancellations or shutdowns, but the dates for the end of service are fixed across the cited reports from Gematsu and other industry sources.
