Three golfers matched the major championship record by shooting rounds of 62 during the 154th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.

## Intelligence Brief
The 154th Open Championship has seen an unprecedented surge of low scoring, as three different players matched the major championship record with rounds of 62. Lucas Herbert and Sam Burns both carded 62s during the second round of the tournament. Following these performances, Ryan Fox also recorded a 62 during the third round. The event culminated with Ryan Fox winning the British Open, securing his first major title by birdying the 72nd hole to clinch the victory. Extensive coverage from major outlets emphasizes the historic nature of these scores. NBC Sports and the PGA Tour reported on the initial record-tying rounds by Herbert and Burns.

Subsequently, AP News, Bleacher Report, and the PGA Tour highlighted Ryan Fox's third-round 62 as the third such score of the week. BBC News specifically noted that Fox's achievement took place at Royal Birkdale, equaling the men's major record. ESPN and NBC News focused their final reporting on Fox's victory and his decisive birdie on the final hole. Contextual details provided in the coverage reveal the surprising nature of some participants' trajectories. The Boston Globe reported that Sam Burns took a lead in a British Open that he had originally planned to miss. The event took place at Royal Birkdale, a venue that hosted three separate rounds of 62, a fact noted by Yahoo Sports.

This cluster of low scores represents a significant milestone in the history of major championships, as three players tied the record within a single tournament window. Future attention will center on Ryan Fox's first major championship title and the lasting impact of these record-tying rounds. While Yahoo Sports and the PGA Tour tracked the leaderboard through the final round, the primary narrative remains the scoring anomaly at Birkdale. Coverage does not specify if any other records were broken, but the focus remains on the triple occurrence of 62s and Fox's successful bid for the championship title.
