## Executive Summary
Major League Baseball is intensifying restrictions on dugout technology to prevent potential cheating scandals involving AI applications.

## Intelligence Brief
Major League Baseball is taking proactive measures to limit the use of technology within team dugouts. According to reports from Yahoo Sports and The New York Times, the Commissioner's Office is implementing a crackdown specifically targeting the use of AI applications on devices. This move is designed to tighten oversight of how teams interact with technology during active play. The league is focusing its attention on the hardware and software utilized by players and coaching staffs, with The New York Times specifically noting a crackdown on team iPads used in the dugout area. Coverage from Yahoo Sports emphasizes that the league is cracking down on dugout AI apps to maintain the integrity of the game.

Meanwhile, Bleacher Nation frames these developments as a strategic effort by MLB to get out ahead of another possible cheating scandal. The reporting suggests that the league is attempting to identify and neutralize technological advantages before they become systemic issues. By targeting the specific use of AI and iPads, the Commissioner's Office is signaling a zero-tolerance approach to unauthorized digital assistance during games. The context for this sudden move involves a broader history of technology-related controversies within professional baseball. Bleacher Nation's coverage links this current crackdown to the desire to avoid a repeat of previous scandals, suggesting that the league is sensitive to the optics and fairness of the competition.

The timing coincides with the transition into the second half of the season, a period where the league is monitoring various performance trends and technical implementations across different teams to ensure a level playing field. Moving forward, observers will be monitoring the specific enforcement mechanisms the Commissioner's Office uses to police dugout AI apps. The New York Times indicates that there are several key factors to watch in the second half of the season, including how teams adapt to these restricted iPad and AI guidelines. Based on the current reports, the league's primary goal is to prevent the emergence of a new cheating scandal by preemptively restricting the types of software and hardware allowed in the dugout environment.
