## Executive Summary
Major League Soccer narrows its commissioner search to three finalists to eventually replace Don Garber.

## Intelligence Brief
Recent reporting outlines a significant leadership transition for Major League Soccer as the organization plans to replace current commissioner Don Garber. Coverage from outlets including NBC Sports, Yahoo Sports, Sportico, Sports Business Journal, 49ers Webzone, ESPN, and The New York Times details the search process. According to these sources, the league narrowed its search down to three distinct finalists for the role. The named individuals under consideration by the league included Berg, Nathanson, and 49ers executive Paraag Marathe. Coverage heavily emphasizes the potential impact of the executive search on external organizations, specifically noting that the San Francisco 49ers faced the prospect of losing a key front office member right before a campaign.

Outlets like Yahoo Sports and Sportico tracked these developments closely. However, the situation shifted dynamically as subsequent reporting emerged. Specifically, Sportico reported that Paraag Marathe removed his name from the MLS commissioner search entirely, altering the list of active contenders. The context surrounding this trend involves long-term organizational planning within professional soccer as Major League Soccer prepares for a future without Don Garber at the helm. The reports establish that the league reached an advanced stage in evaluating candidates to take over the commissioner duties.

Because the search process involves high-profile sports executives, the movements of candidates like Marathe attract significant media attention from specialized sports business publications and mainstream news outlets alike. Future developments will depend on how the league proceeds following the withdrawal of one of its reported finalists. Coverage does not yet specify who the remaining active finalists are or when a final appointment to replace Don Garber will be formally announced. Observers will continue monitoring updates from ESPN, The New York Times, and other reporting outlets to track whether Berg or Nathanson remain in contention or if additional candidates will enter the commissioner search.
