This midseason transfer marks the return of a familiar face to the Union squad, as confirmed by the club's own official statements and reports from MLSsoccer.com. The move represents a significant roster change for the Philadelphia side during the midseason window. Coverage of the transfer is widespread across both local and international sports media. The BBC reported on Wagner's departure from Birmingham City to return to the Union, while MLSsoccer.com provided the league-wide perspective on the acquisition.

Locally, the Union Soccer Blog discussed the return of the player within the context of midseason break musings. Furthermore, Inquirer.com focused on the motivations behind the transfer, describing the decision for the Union and Wagner to reunite as a surprising development for the parties involved.
