## Executive Summary
Xteink has unveiled the X4 Pro, a pocket-sized e-reader designed to fit on the back of a smartphone, now featuring a touchscreen and front light.

## Intelligence Brief
A new ultra-compact reading device, the Xteink X4 Pro, has been introduced to the technology market. According to reports from Android Police and TechCrunch, this device is specifically designed to be small enough to fit on the back of a smartphone, positioning it as a highly portable alternative to standard e-readers. The latest iteration of the hardware represents a significant upgrade over previous versions of Xteink's pocket e-readers. As detailed by How-To Geek, the X4 Pro now incorporates a touchscreen interface and an integrated front light, allowing for easier navigation and reading in various lighting conditions. Coverage of the X4 Pro is widespread across several technology and gadget-focused publications.

Mashable has provided first impressions of the device, while Good e-Reader reports that the Xteink X4 Pro will be released soon. The device is also featured in a roundup by Liliputing, which mentions the product alongside a Game Boy Advance lookalike from AYANEO. These outlets emphasize the novelty of the form factor and the addition of modern hardware features that were previously absent from the brand's tiny e-reading offerings, highlighting the device's potential as a specialized tool for mobile reading. To understand the context of this trend, it is necessary to recognize the niche for a device that complements a smartphone rather than replacing it. The Xteink X4 Pro targets a specific user need for an e-ink display in a pocketable size, which reduces eye strain compared to OLED screens while maintaining a footprint that does not hinder the portability of a mobile phone.

The evolution from a basic e-ink screen to one with a touchscreen and front light suggests a move toward making these miniature devices more functional for daily use, bridging the gap between a basic digital display and a full-featured e-reader. Future developments to watch involve the official release date and final pricing, as Good e-Reader notes the device will be released soon but does not specify the exact day. Potential users will be looking for further performance benchmarks following the initial impressions shared by Mashable. Additionally, the market reaction to this specific form factor—designed to attach to or sit behind a phone—will determine if other manufacturers follow Xteink's lead in creating peripheral e-ink displays for smartphones.
