## Executive Summary
President Trump has approved a landmark nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia, though the agreement is now tied to the kingdom's normalization of ties with Israel.

## Intelligence Brief
President Trump has approved a broad and landmark nuclear energy pact with Saudi Arabia. According to reports from the Associated Press, Forbes, and The Guardian, the agreement may allow Saudi Arabia to enrich uranium. The New York Times describes the arrangement as a broad deal between the Trump administration and the Saudi government. However, Reuters reports that the pact lacks certain safeguards and that the President intends to seek approval from Congress to move the energy agreement forward. Media coverage from PBS and NPR emphasizes a significant shift in the terms of the deal.

Following the initial signing, Trump added a new condition stating that Saudi Arabia's nuclear deal hinges on the kingdom normalizing its relations with Israel. The Times of Israel reports that Israel lobbied the White House to reinsert this normalization condition after the nuclear deal had already been signed. These reports highlight a tension between the technical energy goals of the pact and the geopolitical requirements now demanded by the U.S. administration. This development is critical because uranium enrichment capabilities are a sensitive point of international security. The coverage indicates that the deal represents a big win for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, granting them access to nuclear technology that was previously restricted.

The involvement of Israel in lobbying the White House underscores the regional stakes, as normalization of ties between Riyadh and Jerusalem would fundamentally alter the diplomatic landscape of the Middle East. Looking ahead, the focus remains on whether the Saudi government will accept the condition of normalizing ties with Israel to secure the nuclear pact. According to The Times of Israel, Trump has stated that Riyadh will normalize these ties at some point, though the exact timing remains unspecified. Observers will also be watching the U.S. Congress, as the administration must seek legislative approval for the deal, which Reuters notes is currently lacking in safeguards.
