## Executive Summary
Google expands Gemini task automation across 40+ apps while Samsung unveils new Android XR glasses and foldable integrations.

## Intelligence Brief
Google is implementing a significant rollout of Gemini task automation, which now extends its functionality to more than 40 different applications. This expansion coincides with the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event, where Samsung showcased two additional models of Android XR glasses. The integration of Google's AI capabilities is central to the latest hardware releases, specifically the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which features Gemini Intelligence. Additionally, Samsung's newest foldable devices arrive with Gemini Notebook pre-installed, marking a deeper technical synergy between the two companies' software and hardware ecosystems. Multiple technology outlets are tracking these developments, with 9to5Google and The Verge highlighting the real-world rollout of Gemini task automation.

Engadget focuses on the software side, specifically noting the pre-installation of Gemini Notebook on Samsung's new foldables. Droid Life emphasizes the presence of Gemini Intelligence on the Galaxy Z Fold 8, while Lifehacker reports that four new Android features are arriving, noting that Samsung Galaxy devices will be the first to receive them. Google's official blog further confirms these three specific updates emerging from the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event. This trend is significant because it represents a strategic shift toward autonomous task management within mobile operating systems. By expanding automation to over 40 apps, Google is moving Gemini from a conversational assistant to a functional tool capable of executing tasks across a diverse software suite.

The timing of these updates at Galaxy Unpacked 2026 suggests a coordinated effort to leverage the high-end hardware of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and new XR glasses to demonstrate the practical utility of these AI advancements in a professional and consumer context. Looking forward, the focus remains on the phased distribution of these features. Because Lifehacker indicates that Samsung Galaxy devices will receive four new Android features first, the industry will be watching for when these capabilities migrate to other Android handsets. Further details regarding the specific capabilities of the two new Android XR glasses are expected, as is the performance of Gemini Notebook on the foldable form factor. Coverage continues to track the actual deployment of the task automation system as it reaches a wider user base across the 40+ supported applications.
