## Intelligence Brief
A new documentary series titled 'Pompeii: Out of Time With Tom Hiddleston' has been released, featuring the actor as a guide through the events of Pompeii's final day. The series specifically focuses on uncovering the stories of Pompeii's survivors. According to coverage from Science News, the survivors are the central focus of the production, while Ars Technica positions Hiddleston as the primary guide for viewers navigating the historical tragedy of the city's final hours. Critical reception of the series is mixed across various media outlets. New Scientist describes the show as unabashedly cheesy in its review.

However, the Wall Street Journal highlights the series' objective of uncovering survivors in its own review. The breadth of coverage spans from technical and scientific publications like Ars Technica and Science News to mainstream financial and general news outlets such as the Wall Street Journal and The Times, indicating a broad cross-disciplinary interest in the project. Context for the series is provided by Tom Hiddleston himself in an account published by The Times. In that coverage, Hiddleston states that the discoveries he made in Pompeii changed his life. This personal connection suggests that the documentary is not merely a historical retelling but is informed by the actor's own experiences during the research or filming process.

The focus on survivors rather than just the casualties adds a specific thematic layer to the narrative of the city's destruction. Future developments regarding the series will likely depend on the audience's reaction to its tone and the specific survivors' stories presented. While New Scientist has criticized the stylistic choices of the show, the factual focus on survivors noted by the Wall Street Journal remains a key element. Based on the provided reports, the series aims to blend Hiddleston's personal discovery with a scientific look at the city's final day, though the exact nature of these life-changing discoveries remains within the scope of his interview with The Times.
