## Executive Summary
The Carolina Panthers have signed outside linebacker Cam Gill following a season-ending ACL injury to rising star Nic Scourton during training camp.

## Intelligence Brief
The Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms with outside linebacker Cam Gill following a significant injury to teammate Nic Scourton. The injury was severe enough that Scourton was carted off the field in tears, as detailed by Bleacher Report. Following the incident, head coach Dave Canales stated that Scourton would undergo tests on the affected knee. FOX Sports later reported, citing an AP source, that Scourton will be placed on injured reserve after the diagnosis confirmed the ACL tear. Multiple media outlets have emphasized the timing and impact of this loss for the franchise.

Yahoo Sports characterized Scourton as a rising star and a star edge rusher, noting that his injury occurred on day one of the training camp proceedings. NFL.com included the incident in its news roundup, highlighting the sudden nature of the loss. The coverage across Yahoo Sports, FOX Sports, and Bleacher Report focuses on the immediate physical toll of the injury and the subsequent roster vacancy created by Scourton being out for the entire season. This situation creates an urgent need for the Panthers to bolster their pass rush. The context of the move is underscored by Yahoo Sports, which published a analysis of six free-agent pass rushers the organization should consider to fill the void left by Scourton.

Because Scourton was viewed as a key component of the defensive line, the team faced immediate pressure to find a replacement who could provide similar utility. The signing of Cam Gill, as reported by NBC Sports, serves as the organization's direct response to this loss of depth and talent at the outside linebacker position. Future developments will center on the integration of Cam Gill into the Panthers' defensive scheme as the training camp continues. While Nic Scourton's status is finalized as being out for the season, the team's ability to replace his production will be a point of focus. According to the provided coverage, the team has already moved quickly to agree to terms with Gill, but the full impact of Scourton's placement on injured reserve will remain a primary narrative for the team's defensive preparations moving forward into the 2026 season.
