## Executive Summary
Kenji Kamiyama will direct the newly announced Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO anime slated for 2027.

## Intelligence Brief
According to extensive coverage from outlets including Kotaku, Forbes, Polygon, Gizmodo, Anime News Network, Popverse, Hypebeast, PR Newswire, The Outerhaven, and the GUNDAM Official Website, a major new entry in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise has been officially announced. The production is helmed by Kenji Kamiyama, recognized for work on Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, and forms a core component of Bandai Namco and the GUNDAM Official Website's broader newly unveiled RG Project vision. Coverage across outlets like PR Newswire and Yahoo emphasizes that this upcoming anime will directly tie into an upcoming video game named Gundam Rogue Orbit, sharing a unified universe. Popverse and Polygon note that the project functions as a reboot of the franchise universe under the direction and writing oversight of Kamiyama.

Concurrently, PR Newswire details franchise physical expansion efforts, reporting that The Gundam Base is expanding across North America with two new United States locations scheduled to open in the year 2026. The background established by current reporting highlights how this announcement repositions the long-running franchise under new creative leadership. By pairing an anime series with a companion video game titled Gundam Rogue Orbit, the initiative introduces a cross-media rollout strategy. Outlets such as Forbes and The Outerhaven point out that the anime is scheduled for release in 2027, bridging distinct media formats within the RG Project framework established by Bandai Namco.

Future developments will depend on official updates regarding the precise release schedule for the 2027 anime and its companion video game. Coverage does not yet specify exact launch dates beyond the overarching 2027 window for the anime and 2026 for the retail store expansions. Observers and fans will monitor upcoming announcements from Bandai Namco and future convention panels for further details on the narrative scope of the rebooted universe.
