## Executive Summary
Trump announces a voluntary industry pledge aimed at shielding consumer utility bills from the power demands of AI data centers.

## Intelligence Brief
Nearly 200 firms have signed a voluntary pledge to protect American utility customers from rising costs associated with AI data centers. The initiative follows public and political backlash regarding the strain these facilities place on the electrical grid.

Coverage from The New York Times, The Guardian, and Barron's highlights that the policy includes a recommendation that AI companies pay higher rates for electricity. Reports indicate that despite the commitment to shield consumer pricing, concerns regarding potential data center backlash persist.

Future developments will hinge on whether firms adhere to the voluntary measures. Current coverage does not specify the enforcement mechanisms for the pledge or the extent of its impact on future utility rate structures.
