## Executive Summary
Charley Hull experienced a dramatic collapse at the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open, turning a birdie opportunity into a quadruple bogey.

## Intelligence Brief
During the first round of the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open at Dundonald, golfer Charley Hull suffered a significant scoring disaster. According to coverage from Golfweek and Golf Monthly, Hull encountered a nightmare scenario on the course where she transitioned from attempting a birdie putt to recording a nine on a single hole. Golfweek specifically notes that Hull chipped four times during this sequence, resulting in the brutal quadruple bogey that derailed her opening round performance. This collapse occurred as other competitors struggled or succeeded in the early stages of the tournament. Multiple sports outlets have focused on the volatility of the event.

Sky Sports reports that while Charley Hull and Lottie Woad struggled with their play, Jenny Shin and Lauren Coughlin managed to secure the first-round lead. The National Scot describes the events as "Dundonald disasters," noting that both Hull and Hall experienced significant setbacks during the competition. Fox News also highlighted Hull's struggle with the quadruple bogey, while the Golf Channel characterized the rapid descent from a potential birdie to a quad as a situation that was "turning into a nightmare." Understanding this trend requires context regarding the competitive nature of the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open. The event takes place at the challenging Dundonald course, where high-profile players like Hull are expected to maintain precision. A quadruple bogey is an uncommon and severe error for a professional, particularly when it stems from a position of strength such as a birdie putt.

This specific sequence of events—chipping four times on one hole—illustrates a rare breakdown in short-game execution that has drawn widespread attention across specialized golf media and general news platforms. Observers will now look toward how Hull and other struggling players attempt to recover in the subsequent rounds of the tournament. Coverage has established that Jenny Shin and Lauren Coughlin currently hold the lead, creating a significant gap between the front-runners and those who suffered first-round disasters. Future reports will likely track whether Hull can stabilize her scoring after the nine-stroke hole or if the difficulty of the Dundonald course continues to cause similar collapses for the field's top competitors.
