## Executive Summary
A highly anticipated non-conference matchup between Duke and Michigan is canceled due to a media rights dispute, leading to a new fixture at MSG.

## Intelligence Brief
The scheduled college basketball game between Duke and Michigan for the 2026-27 season has been called off. This non-conference clash was originally slated to take place in Miami, but the matchup will no longer occur. According to reports from ESPN and CBS Sports, the Blue Devils have already secured a replacement opponent for their schedule. Duke will now face Texas Tech in a game scheduled for December 21. This new contest is set to take place at Madison Square Garden (MSG) rather than the previously planned Miami location. Extensive coverage of the cancellation has been provided by several major sports outlets and regional news sources.

The Detroit News and USA Today both reported the cancellation of the non-conference clash, with USA Today specifically noting that the game was called off amid a dispute regarding media rights. Additional reporting from Yahoo Sports, Bleacher Report, and 247Sports detailed the removal of the game from the 2026 schedule. Local and team-specific coverage from the Duke Basketball Report and UM Hoops.com also confirmed that the two teams will not face each other during the 2026-27 season. Context regarding the broadcast of the event reveals that the game between Duke and Michigan was originally slated to be aired on Amazon. The breakdown of these media rights arrangements is cited by USA Today as the primary reason the game was canceled. This shift highlights the influence of streaming and broadcast agreements on collegiate sports scheduling.

The replacement of the Michigan fixture with a game against Texas Tech ensures that Duke maintains a high-profile opponent for its December slate, shifting the venue from Florida to New York City. Future developments to monitor involve the finalization of the Duke and Texas Tech matchup on December 21 at Madison Square Garden. While the Duke-Michigan game is confirmed as off by sources across ESPN, CBS Sports, and Yahoo Sports, coverage does not yet specify if Michigan has secured a replacement opponent to fill the void left by the canceled Miami game. Stakeholders will likely look for updates regarding the media rights dispute that led to the cancellation, as the original plan involved Amazon as the broadcast partner.
