## Executive Summary
General Hospital has officially written off legacy character Maxie Jones and her family following Kirsten Storms' departure from the show.

## Intelligence Brief
The long-running soap opera General Hospital has officially written off the character of Maxie Jones and her associated family members. This development follows the departure of actress Kirsten Storms, who portrayed the character for 21 years. According to reports from Michael Fairman TV and Soap Opera Digest, the show has now finalized the process of removing these characters from the current narrative. The exit comes after a period of absence for Storms, as Entertainment Weekly notes that the actress had previously been on a months-long hiatus from the series before the official write-off occurred. Coverage of the exit is widespread across entertainment media, with outlets such as People.com and Page Six emphasizing the personal circumstances surrounding the departure. Page Six specifically reports that the write-off follows a mental health crisis experienced by Storms.

People.com further attributes the decision to write off the character to personal struggles. Other publications, including Yahoo and Us Weekly, have focused on the mechanics of the exit, questioning whether the show had set up an official departure or examining the specific ways the character was removed from the plot. Closer Weekly described the method of the write-off as surprising. This event is significant due to the longevity of the character within the series. As noted by Page Six, Kirsten Storms had been a part of the production for 21 years, making Maxie Jones a long-term fixture of the show. Parade.com describes Maxie as a beloved legacy character, highlighting the emotional weight of her removal from the cast.

The transition from a temporary hiatus to a permanent write-off marks a definitive end to a multi-decade tenure for the actress on the program, impacting both the show's ensemble and its established family dynamics. Future developments will likely center on how the narrative handles the void left by Maxie and her family. While IMDb and other outlets are currently detailing how the write-off was executed, coverage does not yet specify if there is any possibility of a future return for the character. Observers and viewers will be watching for further official statements regarding the terms of Storms' departure or any potential plot points that might address the absence of this legacy family in upcoming episodes of General Hospital.
