## Executive Summary
Activist Sonam Wangchuk has ended a 26-day hunger strike over exam paper leaks as 'Cockroach' protests continue to spread across India.

## Intelligence Brief
Prominent Indian activist Sonam Wangchuk has officially ended a hunger strike that lasted 26 days. According to reports from Al Jazeera and The New York Times, the fast concluded following a period of long negotiations with the government. The Hindu reports that Wangchuk extended his fast by an additional two days during these negotiations, describing the outcome as the beginning of accountability. The activist's physical toll was noted by the BBC, which reported that Wangchuk lost 11kg during the period he remained on the hunger strike. Global and local outlets, including AP News, NPR, and the BBC, are highlighting that while Wangchuk has broken his fast, the movement known as the 'Cockroach' protests is continuing.

CBC and NBC News report that these protests are spreading across India. The coverage emphasizes a tension between the activist's decision to stop the hunger strike and the resolve of other protesters who vow to press on. The Times of India has reported on the personal dimension of the event, quoting Wangchuk's wife, who criticized those attacking the activist after he ended his fast. Context provided by NDTV and The Times of India indicates that the government offered a series of assurances to bring the hunger strike to a close, specifically promising that no cases would be filed against peaceful protesters. The protests have a strong connection to the CJP, with founder Dipke expressing relief that the fast ended but maintaining a commitment to the cause.

The primary objective of these efforts is to seek the resignation of Pradhan, as detailed in updates from The Hindu regarding the Jantar Mantar protest site. Future developments will center on the upcoming talks between the government and the CJP, as noted by DW.com. Observers will be monitoring whether the government upholds its assurances regarding the legal status of peaceful protesters. The movement's trajectory depends on the ongoing activity of the 'Cockroach' protesters, who have signaled that their demonstrations will continue despite the end of Wangchuk's specific hunger strike. Coverage does not yet specify the exact date for the government-CJP meetings.
