## Executive Summary
Sony has officially set a February 16 release date for God of War: Laufey on PS5, sparking a high-stakes scheduling clash with Xbox's Fable.

## Intelligence Brief
A new entry in the God of War series, titled God of War: Laufey, has received an official release date during a showcase at San Diego Comic-Con. According to reports from Engadget, the title is scheduled to hit the PlayStation 5 on February 16. This announcement confirms the game's arrival and reaffirms Kratos as the future of the franchise, as noted by mxdwn Games. Major gaming and technology outlets have provided extensive coverage of the reveal. IGN and Complex both reported that the official release date has been confirmed, while VICE specifically highlighted that the announcement took place at San Diego Comic-Con.

Push Square focused on the narrative stakes, noting that Sony confirmed the return of Kratos and describing the setup as leading toward something amazing. The breadth of coverage across these platforms indicates a high level of industry interest in the timing of the launch and the direction of the series. Contextual details from the coverage suggest that timing is a critical factor for Sony in this rollout. Diario AS reports that the February 16 date ensures God of War: Laufey will not go head-to-head with the release of GTA 6. This strategic scheduling suggests an effort to avoid direct competition with one of the most anticipated titles in gaming.

Moving forward, the industry is monitoring the final preparations for the February 16 launch on PS5. While darkhorizons.com listed the title in a quick news roundup alongside other names, the primary focus remains on the confirmed date. Coverage does not yet specify if further trailers or gameplay deep-dives will accompany the countdown to February.
