Azzi Fudd of the Dallas Wings has achieved a historic milestone during the 2026 WNBA All-Star Weekend. According to reports from The New York Times and Yahoo Sports, Fudd has become the first rookie in the history of the league to win the WNBA 3-point shooting contest. Following her victory, Fudd issued a public challenge to NBA star Steph Curry, calling for a rematch in three-point shooting. This event took place during the All-Star Friday festivities, marking a significant individual achievement for the Wings player in her debut professional season. Coverage of the event is widespread across major sports and news outlets. CBS Sports and Yahoo Sports highlight the historical nature of the win and the subsequent challenge issued to Curry.

The Hartford Courant emphasizes Fudd's collegiate connection to UConn while celebrating her status as the WNBA's current best three-point shooter. Additionally, ESPN has provided further context by grading the performance of every player participating in the 2026 WNBA All-Star Weekend, ensuring that Fudd's performance is benchmarked against other elite athletes in the league. To understand the significance of this moment, it is necessary to note that Fudd entered the league as a high-profile prospect. Yahoo Sports notes that Fudd has successfully backed up her status as the No. 1 draft selection with this All-Star moment. The transition from a standout career at UConn to a history-making rookie season in the WNBA underscores the high expectations placed upon her. By winning a contest previously uncontested by rookies, she has established herself as a premier perimeter threat in the professional game immediately upon her arrival.

Looking forward, observers will likely monitor whether Steph Curry responds to Fudd's request for a rematch. While the coverage does not specify if a date has been set, the challenge creates a narrative link between the WNBA's rising star and one of the NBA's greatest shooters. Other points of interest from the weekend include the status of players like Sophie Cunningham, as noted by USA Today, and the final grades for all participants as detailed by ESPN.
