## Executive Summary
Rockstar Games clarifies region-locking for Grand Theft Auto VI pre-order codes amid reports of expiring physical copy downloads.

## Intelligence Brief
Rockstar Games is providing clarification regarding the region-locking of pre-order download codes for Grand Theft Auto VI. This development follows reports that the distribution and usability of the game's digital access are tied to specific geographic constraints. The company is addressing how these restrictions will impact players depending on the country in which they are attempting to access the game. This effort to clarify the pre-order process comes as consumers navigate the requirements for activating their copies of the title across different global markets. Coverage from Eurogamer.net highlights Rockstar's efforts to explain the region-lock mechanics of these pre-order codes.

Simultaneously, other reports focus on the precarious nature of physical media for the title. Specifically, levelup.com reports that download codes for the game on PS5 are set to expire less than six months after the game's official launch. This expiration window creates a situation where physical buyers may be left with copies that are effectively unusable if the codes are not redeemed within the specified timeframe. Further context regarding these time limits is provided by TweakTown, which reports that physical copies of Grand Theft Auto VI in Japan carry a specific 170-day expiration date. These details underscore a growing tension between physical ownership and digital activation.

Additionally, GTA BOOM has reported on the state of the game's special editions, stating that the specific Collector's Edition that many consumers are currently seeking does not actually exist, adding to the confusion surrounding the game's available physical versions. Future developments will center on whether Rockstar Games modifies the expiration windows for PS5 download codes to prevent physical copies from becoming obsolete. Observers will also be monitoring the specific country-by-country breakdown of region-locking as detailed by Eurogamer.net. The situation remains focused on the viability of physical media in Japan and other markets where the 170-day limit applies, as well as the continued search for non-existent collector's editions among the gaming community.
