## Executive Summary
Trade chatter swirls around Tigers ace Tarik Skubal as the 2026 deadline looms, with Dodgers leading the rumor mill.

## Intelligence Brief
Coverage across multiple outlets reports that the Detroit Tigers are preparing to move right‑handed ace Tarik Skubal before the 2026 MLB trade deadline. Skubal, who recorded his 1,000th career strikeout in a start that featured a standing ovation from fans, may have taken what many describe as his final appearance in a Tigers uniform. The game ended in a 10‑9 loss after the team surrendered a 7‑0 lead, prompting headlines that labeled the outing chaotic and a possible farewell. Bleacher Report, NBC Sports and ESPN’s Jeff Passan are among the sources explicitly stating that a trade is imminent, while The Detroit News and Yahoo Sports detail the growing buzz and list potential suitors. Sportsnet.ca and FOX Sports evaluate which clubs have the most to offer, and USA Today provides contract and statistical context. The Detroit Free Press, AP News and the New York Times focus on the emotional response from fans and the dramatic collapse that followed Skubal’s milestone.

Yahoo Sports also notes that the Yankees are deemed an unrealistic landing spot, while Bleacher Report ranks trade tier possibilities for every MLB team. Skubal entered the season as a two‑time Cy Young winner, cementing his status as the Tigers’ frontline pitcher. His recent 1,000th strikeout milestone underscores his elite strikeout ability, a key factor in the market interest. With the deadline looming, trade analysts note that the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees are repeatedly cited as the most realistic destinations, each weighing the value of an ace in exchange for prospects or payroll relief. The pressure on Tigers general manager Scott Harris is highlighted by The Detroit News, which frames the potential deal as a pivotal roster decision. The trade conversation intensified after the Tigers’ disastrous homestand, as noted by the Detroit Free Press, prompting front‑office urgency.

Future coverage will likely track any official announcement from the Tigers, updates from Jeff Passan’s reporting, and statements from the identified suitor clubs as the deadline approaches. Indicators such as roster moves, prospect listings and financial terms are expected to appear in follow‑up stories from MLB.com and MASN. Observers are advised to monitor whether the Dodgers maintain their lead in the rumor mill or if alternative offers from the Cubs or Yankees materialize before the trade cutoff. MLB.com is expected to publish the official transaction details once filed.
