## Executive Summary
South Korea's Danuri orbiter has captured the first images of a new lunar crater created by a crashing SpaceX rocket.

## Intelligence Brief
A wayward SpaceX rocket has collided with the surface of the Moon, an event that scientists report occurred as predicted. The impact was documented by South Korea's space agency using its Danuri orbiter, which captured critical data of the event. Specifically, the satellite provided before and after views of the impact site, allowing researchers to see the immediate physical changes to the lunar landscape. These images reveal a new crater formed by the debris of the SpaceX vehicle, confirming that the junk successfully hit the lunar surface. Extensive coverage of the collision has been reported across several major outlets.

AP News, Phys.org, and Newsday all highlighted the South Korean satellite's ability to capture the before and after imagery of the crash. NBC News reports that scientists are certain the rocket slammed into the Moon, while The Telegraph focuses on the revelation of the new crater visible in the first released pictures. People.com and The Planetary Society also provided coverage of the images following the crash, and Gizmodo questioned the nature of the resulting splotch on the lunar surface. This event occurs amidst ongoing concerns regarding space debris and the trajectory of abandoned hardware. Universe Today noted that the presence of SpaceX junk hitting the Moon is not a good sign for future lunar operations.

The event has also triggered a wave of digital misinformation, with Yahoo reporting that a fake video of the SpaceX moon collision has been circulating online, complicating the public's understanding of the actual satellite imagery provided by the South Korean mission. Future attention will likely focus on the analysis of the Danuri orbiter's imagery to determine the full scale of the impact. Observers will be monitoring for further official data from the South Korean space agency regarding the specific coordinates and size of the new crater. Because scientists had predicted this collision, further reports may emerge regarding how the rocket's trajectory was tracked prior to the impact and what this implies for the management of rocket debris in cislunar space.
