## Executive Summary
Dwayne Johnson addresses critics and poor box office performance following the release of Disney's live-action Moana remake.

## Intelligence Brief
Dwayne Johnson has publicly addressed the negative critical reception and poor theatrical performance of Disney's live-action Moana remake. According to reports from Yahoo, the film has been characterized as a box office flop, suffering from brutal reviews since its release. Coverage of the situation is being tracked across multiple entertainment and regional outlets. WDW News Today and TheWrap both focused on the specific nature of Johnson's response to the critics. Meanwhile, The Frederick News-Post provided a more critical assessment of the film itself, describing the live-action version of Moana as a lifeless carbon copy of the original animated classic.

These reports collectively highlight a disconnect between the studio's remake strategy and the audience's reception of the final product. The context of this trend centers on Disney's ongoing strategy of producing live-action remakes of its previously successful animated features. In this instance, the Moana remake has struggled to capture the appeal of the original, leading to the "brutal reviews" cited by Yahoo. The stakes involve not only the financial success of a high-budget production but also the reputation of the franchise. The description of the film as a "lifeless carbon copy" suggests that the remake failed to add new value or creative depth to the established story.

Future developments to watch include further statements from Disney regarding the film's long-term theatrical run or potential streaming pivots. While Dwayne Johnson has broken his silence on the matter, coverage does not yet specify if other cast members or production executives will issue formal responses to the negative reviews. Observers will likely monitor whether the box office figures continue to decline or if the film finds a different audience after its initial theatrical floundering.
