## Executive Summary
Elon Musk warns that SpaceX's Starship may be lost at sea following its 13th test flight, despite a successful splashdown and a surge in stock value.

## Intelligence Brief
Following the completion of its 13th test flight, SpaceX is facing significant challenges in recovering its Starship vehicle. Elon Musk has stated that the recovery efforts are currently 'not looking good,' suggesting the spacecraft is likely to be lost at sea. The vehicle had previously achieved a milestone landing and a successful splashdown, but subsequent recovery attempts have encountered difficulties. The Starship, which stands 170 feet tall, is currently located in the Indian Ocean, where recovery operations are underway. Coverage of the situation is widespread across several major outlets.

CNN reports that satellite imagery has captured the ongoing race to recover the vehicle from the ocean. Yahoo Finance notes a contradiction in the company's current state, reporting that SPCX stock clocked its best session since its early trading days even as Musk expressed pessimism regarding the recovery. Additional reports from The Times of India, Florida Today, and Space provide further details on the shift in the recovery operation's trajectory after the initial successful landing milestone. This development occurs at a critical juncture for SpaceX as it prepares for a new phase of operations. According to SpaceNews, the company is set to begin Starship orbital flights.

The 13th test flight was characterized as an epic milestone, yet reports from Medium suggest that the mission may have exposed a fatal Achilles heel for the vehicle. The stakes are high because the ability to recover and reuse the massive 170-foot craft is central to the company's operational goals and the broader viability of its orbital flight plans. Observers are now monitoring whether the recovery teams can successfully retrieve the wayward Starship or if it will remain lost in the Indian Ocean. The primary focus remains on the transition to orbital flights and whether the issues encountered during the Flight 13 recovery will impact future launch schedules. Future updates will likely depend on the results of the current recovery mission and further statements from Elon Musk regarding the technical failures that led to the current 'not looking good' status of the spacecraft.
