## Executive Summary
Massive jellyfish swarms clog cooling pumps, forcing the shutdown of three reactors at France's largest nuclear plant.

## Intelligence Brief
Recent coverage from outlets including NDTV, Newser, Euronews, Le Monde, The Independent, Fortune, Yahoo, Politico, Bloomberg, and Reuters documents an unfolding situation at a major French nuclear facility. A huge swarm of jellyfish has clogged the facility's pumps, directly leading to the shutdown of three nuclear reactors. According to the reported data, this disruption has knocked out 3.2 gigawatts of French nuclear power, accounting for one-fifth of the nation's total nuclear capacity being offline. The reporting places heavy emphasis on the operational disruption at France's largest nuclear power plant.

Publications such as Bloomberg and Fortune highlight the specific power loss metrics, while Le Monde and Euronews frame the event within the broader context of extreme weather impacts. Furthermore, politico.eu notes a recurring pattern, reporting that swarming jellyfish have overrun the French nuclear plant on the exact same date two years in a row, with Newser corroborating that jellyfish have clogged the nuclear plant for the second August in a row. This recurring phenomenon highlights vulnerabilities in critical energy infrastructure when faced with ecological and meteorological pressures. Coverage does not yet specify the exact mechanical procedures being used to clear the clogged pumps or the precise timeline for when the reactors will be safely restarted.

However, the reports establish that the simultaneous loss of 3.2 gigawatts of generation capacity places a notable strain on the broader French power grid during the current hot weather conditions. Observers and energy analysts are tracking subsequent updates from operators and regulatory bodies regarding the restoration of the offline capacity. Future coverage will likely determine whether preventative measures can be successfully implemented to mitigate future August jellyfish swarms. For now, the immediate focus remains on securing the affected reactors at France's largest nuclear site while managing the loss of one-fifth of the country's nuclear power generation.
