## Executive Summary
The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, will officially rebrand with a new name for the 2027 season.

## Intelligence Brief
The professional baseball team known as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders is preparing for a significant identity shift. According to reports from MLB.com, the team is set to say goodbye to the RailRiders name as part of a wider rebranding effort. This change is scheduled to take effect in time for the 2027 season. The organization, which serves as the Triple-A affiliate for the New York Yankees, will transition to a new name that has not yet been disclosed in the current reporting. The announcement marks the beginning of a new chapter for the franchise based in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre region. Coverage of this development is widespread across sports and regional news platforms.

MLB.com has highlighted the transition as the next chapter for the team, while Yahoo Sports specifically noted that the rebranding will be in place for the 2027 season. Regional outlets are also providing coverage, with NJ.com confirming that the Yankees' Triple-A team is getting a new name. Additionally, WNEP has reported on the move, emphasizing that the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders are the specific entity undergoing this change. These outlets collectively confirm the timeline and the fact that the existing brand is being retired. The RailRiders occupy a critical position in the New York Yankees' player development pipeline as their highest minor league affiliate. Because the team operates as the Triple-A level, it is the final stop for players before they are called up to the Major Leagues.

A rebranding of this nature involves a change in the public-facing identity of the club, which affects everything from team uniforms to marketing materials. The decision to move away from the RailRiders moniker suggests a strategic shift in how the franchise intends to present itself to the local community and the broader baseball world starting in 2027. Looking forward, the primary focus will be on the unveiling of the new team name and visual identity. While the current coverage confirms that the RailRiders name is being phased out, the specific details regarding the new brand have not been provided. Observers will be waiting for further announcements from the team or the New York Yankees regarding the inspiration behind the new name and any accompanying changes to the team's colors or logos. The transition period will lead up to the start of the 2027 season, during which the new identity will be fully implemented across the organization.
