## Executive Summary
Chris Carter reveals a new director's cut of The X-Files, describing it as the horror movie the team originally intended to produce.

## Intelligence Brief
The updates suggest a shift in tone toward a more horrific cinematic experience than what was previously released to audiences, aligning the film more closely with the creator's original vision for the property. Coverage from both The Verge and KATU emphasizes the creative direction and future of the franchise. The Verge focuses on Carter's desire to have produced a more horrific movie, highlighting the distinction between the final theatrical product and this new director's cut. Meanwhile, KATU reports on Carter's anticipation for the future of the series, specifically mentioning his eagerness regarding a reboot.

These outlets collectively highlight a period of retrospective refinement and forward-looking expansion for the paranormal investigation brand. To understand the significance of these developments, readers must recognize the long-standing influence of The X-Files in the sci-fi and horror genres. This context explains why the creator is now prioritizing the 'horrific' elements of the story, which may have been toned down in earlier versions to suit different market demands or studio requirements at the time. Looking ahead, the coverage indicates two primary points of interest for followers of the series.

Second, the reporting from KATU confirms that a reboot of The X-Files is in development under the direction of Ryan Coogler. Carter has explicitly stated that he can't wait to see the results of Coogler's work, making the progress of this reboot a central point of future entertainment coverage.
