## Executive Summary
Mark Madden argues Mason Rudolph is the safest backup for the Steelers despite the explosive debut of rookie Drew Allar.

## Intelligence Brief
The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently navigating a quarterback depth chart conversation following the preseason debut of Drew Allar. According to coverage from Yahoo Sports, head coach Mike McCarthy expressed that he loved what he saw from Allar during the rookie's first NFL appearance. This performance has generated significant immediate commercial interest, with Behind the Steel Curtain reporting that the Steelers have already sold out of Drew Allar jerseys. Yahoo Sports has emphasized the ripple effects of Allar's debut beyond the Steelers' own roster.

Specifically, the outlet reports that the New York Jets could potentially contact the Steelers regarding their backup quarterback situation in light of Allar's performance. Additionally, Yahoo Sports highlights ongoing tension involving Allar's past, noting that it sounded as though the player threw another shot at James Franklin. This suggests a narrative of lingering conflict between the rookie and his former coach that continues to surface even as he enters the professional ranks. To understand the current stakes, readers must note the specific personnel involved in the Steelers' quarterback room.

Future developments to monitor include whether the New York Jets follow through with inquiries to the Steelers about their backup quarterbacks. Observers will also be watching for further comments from Drew Allar regarding James Franklin and how Mike McCarthy's positive assessment of the rookie translates into the final depth chart.
