## Executive Summary
Former SNL cast member John Higgins joins the second season of the ABC 'Scrubs' revival as a new chief resident.

## Intelligence Brief
The ABC revival of the medical sitcom 'Scrubs' is expanding its cast for the second season. According to reports from Deadline, TheWrap, and Yahoo, John Higgins, a former cast member of 'Saturday Night Live,' has joined the production in a major role. Higgins will be portraying the new chief resident, a character described by IMDb as a new thorn in the side of the character J.D. Additionally, Deadline reports that the series has added Keyla Monterroso Mejia to the cast, who will appear in the second season as a new nurse. Other reporting from Yahoo indicates that a star from 'The Studio' is also joining the show following major cast exits. Multiple media outlets are tracking the casting shifts and the show's current performance.

Deadline and TheWrap specifically highlight Higgins' background with 'SNL' as a key point of interest for the revival. Parade.com notes that Higgins is a fan-favorite alum of the sketch comedy show. Meanwhile, Comic Book Resources reports that the series is currently one of the most-watched titles on PVOD platforms as audiences prepare for the revival's return. This surge in viewership suggests a high level of anticipation for the upcoming season of the medical comedy. Context for these additions includes a shift in the show's ensemble and crossover casting within the ABC network. Yahoo notes that while fans of 'Will Trent' had been hoping for the return of Scott Foley, the actor has instead landed a different gig at ABC.

The arrival of Higgins and Monterroso Mejia comes at a time when the show is navigating a transition period, as Yahoo mentions the newcomers are joining after significant cast exits from the series. This indicates a period of restructuring for the revival's narrative and character dynamics as it moves into its second season. Future developments to watch include the chemistry between the new chief resident and J.D., and the integration of Keyla Monterroso Mejia's nurse character into the hospital setting. Coverage from IMDb emphasizes the antagonistic relationship expected between Higgins' character and J.D. as a primary plot point. Observers will also be looking for more details on the specific role Scott Foley has taken at ABC, given his absence from 'Will Trent' and his new engagement with the network. The continued performance of the series on PVOD will likely serve as a metric for the revival's momentum leading up to the season premiere.
