## Executive Summary
CDC data reveals that vaccine exemption rates for U.S. kindergarteners have reached a new record high for the 2025-26 school year.

## Intelligence Brief
According to reporting from Bloomberg.com, CNBC, and The Washington Post, vaccine exemption rates for kindergarten students in the United States have climbed to another record high. This trend indicates that vaccine coverage for the 2025-26 school year has dropped once again. Data provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirms that a growing number of parents are seeking exemptions from standard immunization requirements for their children as they enter the school system. Coverage from multiple outlets, including abcnews.com and The Hill, emphasizes the role of the CDC in tracking and reporting these figures.

The reports highlight a specific concern regarding the MMR vaccine, noting that coverage for this particular immunization remains below the ideal rate required to effectively prevent outbreaks. The consistent decline in coverage rates across the country has become a central point of analysis for health reporters covering the start of the new academic year. To understand the current stakes, it is necessary to recognize that the CDC considers specific coverage thresholds essential for maintaining community immunity. When vaccine rates for kindergarteners fall, the risk of preventable disease outbreaks increases within school environments.

The fact that exemptions have reached a record high suggests a continuing shift in how parents approach mandated vaccinations, creating a public health environment where the ideal rate for MMR protection is not being met. Looking forward, the situation remains critical as health officials monitor the impact of these record-high exemptions on school safety. Based on the reported data from the CDC, the primary focus will be whether vaccine coverage can be restored to levels that prevent outbreaks. Monitoring will likely continue as the 2025-26 school year progresses to determine if the current drop in rates leads to any specific health incidents among the kindergarten population.
