## Executive Summary
The 2026 Pro Farmer Crop Tour begins amidst contrasting weather extremes of record rainfall and flooding in the eastern Corn Belt and dryness in South Dakota.

## Intelligence Brief
The 2026 Pro Farmer Crop Tour has officially commenced, deploying observers across the Corn Belt to assess crop conditions. According to live coverage from Pro Farmer, the tour is starting in the wake of record rainfall and flooding that has impacted the eastern portion of the Corn Belt. Reports from the western leg of the tour have already begun to surface as preliminary route data is collected. The tour aims to provide a ground-level view of crop health, though current conditions are highly variable across different states. Multiple outlets are monitoring the tour's progress and its implications for agricultural markets. Barchart.com identifies the event as a major catalyst for corn and soybean prices this week.

AgWeb has highlighted a stark divide in weather patterns, noting that while Ohio is currently battling excess water, dry fields are stifling corn yields in South Dakota. Additionally, RFD-TV has confirmed that the tour is now underway, and DTN Progressive Farmer has released results from its own 2026 DTN Digital Yield Tour, adding another layer of data to the current production picture. This event matters now because the production outlook remains clouded by inconsistent weather. AgWeb reports that relentless rain has muddied the crop production picture across the Corn Belt, making accurate yield predictions difficult. The contrast between the flooding in the east and the drought conditions in the west creates a complex environment for analysts. Because these tours provide the primary physical verification of crop progress, they often trigger significant volatility in the pricing of essential commodities like soybeans and corn.

Moving forward, observers are focused on the specific findings from the tour's routes. AgWeb is tracking key indicators for what to watch during the 2026 tour to determine final yield impacts. Market participants will be looking for whether the record rainfall in the east offsets the yield losses seen in drier regions. Further updates are expected as the tour completes its circuit through the Corn Belt and more route reports are released by Pro Farmer to clarify the overall state of the 2026 harvest.
