## Executive Summary
New York Yankees star Aaron Judge is approaching a key milestone in his recovery from a rib injury as he nears a hitting progression.

## Intelligence Brief
New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge is moving toward the next phase of his rehabilitation following a rib injury. According to reporting from MLB.com, Judge has been engaged in pool work, which may serve as the final step before he is cleared to begin a formal hitting progression. This transition marks a critical point in his recovery process, moving from low-impact aquatic activity to the physical demands of taking swings. The sequence of events suggests a cautious approach to his return to the lineup, focusing first on pool-based movements before graduating to active hitting drills. Multiple sports outlets are monitoring the situation closely, emphasizing the significance of these developments for the team.

NBC Sports specifically notes that Judge is set to start the hitting progression, while Yahoo Sports describes the current updates as great news for both the player and the New York Yankees organization. USA Today has focused its coverage on the implications of Judge's first swings, analyzing what this specific milestone means for the Yankees' broader competitive standing and roster management as they navigate the season without their star player. The context of this trend centers on the physical toll of a rib injury and the structured nature of professional baseball rehabilitation. Because rib injuries can limit a player's rotational power and breathing, the transition from pool work to hitting is a documented progression designed to minimize the risk of re-injury. The coverage indicates that the team is following a specific medical timeline to ensure Judge can return to full strength.

The focus on the hitting progression highlights the gap between basic physical mobility and the high-intensity requirements of Major League Baseball hitting. Future developments to watch involve the actual commencement of the hitting progression and the subsequent timing of Judge's return to game action. While MLB.com and NBC Sports have identified the pool work and the upcoming swings as the immediate priorities, coverage does not yet specify a definitive date for his return to the active roster. Observers will be looking for reports on how Judge handles his first swings and whether the progression proceeds without setbacks. The progression from pool work to hitting represents the final hurdle before the team can determine his availability for upcoming games.
