## Executive Summary
Mattel Brick Shop announces a 1:1-scale, 3,509-piece building set of the original Xbox console.

## Intelligence Brief
Coverage across multiple entertainment and technology outlets documents the return of Microsoft's original gaming console in building brick form. According to reporting from Polygon, IGN, Engadget, GameSpot, and Mattel Corporate, a new product is being released that allows consumers to construct the hardware themselves. The product is a 1:1-scale replica consisting of 3,509 pieces. It is produced by a Lego rival, specifically the Mattel Brick Shop, which announced the project on August 19, 2026. The construction set features the iconic console design and includes scenes from three video games within the build. The announcement is heavily covered by prominent gaming and tech publications, showcasing specific details about the physical dimensions and component count of the toy.

IGN and Polygon emphasize the piece count and the inclusion of game scenes. Engadget and GameSpot frame the release around the hands-on nature of the buildable hardware. Meanwhile, Mattel Corporate's official statements, highlighted in the coverage, explicitly tie the product launch to a milestone anniversary. The release serves as a celebration marking twenty-five years of Microsoft's iconic Xbox game console brand. This release taps into the nostalgia surrounding the original Xbox generation, which first established Microsoft in the home console market decades prior. By recreating the bulky, black-and-green aesthetic of the early-2000s hardware using interlocking bricks, the manufacturer targets adult collectors and gaming enthusiasts who grew up with the system.

The scale of the set—a full 1:1 ratio with the original hardware—sets it apart from miniature collectible models, positioning it as a substantial display piece that requires significant assembly time from the builder. As the product has just been announced, current coverage does not yet specify the exact retail price or the precise global release dates beyond the initial August 2026 unveiling. Future updates from Mattel and participating retailers will likely clarify distribution details, packaging specifics, and availability for consumers looking to purchase the 3,509-piece building set. Observers will be watching to see how the market responds to this competitor in the large-scale adult building kit space.
