## Executive Summary
FIFA President Gianni Infantino faces mounting pressure to skip a youth tournament in the Dominican Republic amid a wider governance crisis.

## Intelligence Brief
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has been asked to stay away from a youth tournament taking place in the Dominican Republic. This request comes amid a period of significant tension involving football governance and specific regional disputes. According to reports from the BBC and The New York Times, the request for Infantino to avoid the event was made by Concacaf, the governing body for football in North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. This directive was further emphasized by the CONCACAF chief, who sought the president's absence from the junior competition as the organization navigates a broader FIFA governance crisis. Multiple media outlets have highlighted the depth of the friction between Infantino and regional leadership. Reuters reports that the CONCACAF chief explicitly asked Infantino to skip the tournament, while ESPN notes that the FIFA president has defied a request from a FIFA vice president to avoid the event.

The Guardian reports that Infantino has angered Concacaf nations by hijacking a Caribbean Football Union meeting. This specific incident has added to the volatility of the situation, with coverage from The Telegraph and Sky News framing the request to stay away as a direct result of this friction and ongoing organizational instability. The current conflict is rooted in deeper disagreements regarding the commercial future of the sport. Sky News identifies a primary source of anger as a FIFA World Cup sell-off plan, which has created significant unrest among member nations. Furthermore, Inside World Football has raised the stakes by suggesting there are twenty specific questions that Caribbean Football Union presidents should pose to Infantino on behalf of the global football community during the upcoming weekend. This context suggests that the youth tournament in the Dominican Republic has become a flashpoint for grievances regarding how FIFA is managed and how its assets are handled.

Attention is now focused on whether Gianni Infantino will comply with the requests from Concacaf and the FIFA vice president or continue to defy those directives. The Guardian indicates that Infantino may view the junior tournament in the Dominican Republic as a potential route to exit his current crisis. Observers are watching to see if the president will attend the event regardless of the opposition and how the Caribbean Football Union presidents will engage with him. The resolution of this standoff remains uncertain as the governance crisis continues to unfold across the international football landscape.
