Indonesia is pursuing expanded strategic cooperation and joint military exercises with China following high-level ministerial meetings in Jakarta.

## Intelligence Brief
During these proceedings, the President of Indonesia met directly with the foreign and defense ministers of China to discuss the framework for these enhanced bilateral relations and the implementation of strategic goals. Coverage of these events is provided by Xinhua and the Global Times. Xinhua reports on the formal execution of the Second Ministerial Meeting of the China-Indonesia Joint Foreign and Defense Ministerial Dialogue, noting the specific location of the talks in Jakarta.

The Global Times emphasizes the personal involvement of the Indonesian President, who met with China's foreign and defense ministers to explicitly call for overall strategic cooperation between the two nations, signaling a desire for deeper integration in security and diplomacy. This trend matters as it represents a formalization of security ties between Jakarta and Beijing through a structured ministerial dialogue. By utilizing a joint foreign and defense ministerial format, the two countries are aligning their diplomatic objectives with their military strategies, ensuring that the pursuit of strategic cooperation is coordinated across multiple government branches.

Observers will be looking for official agreements or timelines resulting from the dialogue held in Jakarta. Since the coverage identifies this as the second meeting of its kind, subsequent dialogues and the implementation of the goals discussed with the Chinese foreign and defense ministers will be the primary indicators of progress.
