## Executive Summary
GKIDS licenses Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and a live-action adaptation, driving a multi-platform franchise resurgence.

## Intelligence Brief
Recent media reports indicate a significant resurgence for the Vampire Hunter D franchise, anchored by new licensing agreements and comic book releases. According to coverage from outlets including Anime News Network, Crunchyroll, Gizmodo, Bleeding Cool News, and League of Comic Geeks, the anime film Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is scheduled for new North American theatrical and home video releases. This distribution effort is led by GKIDS, which has officially licensed the film alongside a live-action adaptation of 5 Centimeters Per Second. The announcements have drawn widespread attention across entertainment reporting platforms tracking Japanese media properties and their Western distribution footprints. In addition to the anime and live-action film news, Dark Horse Comics has announced plans for related print properties.

Coverage from Bleeding Cool News detailing official full December 2026 solicits, alongside reports from Anime News Network and League of Comic Geeks, highlights several new additions to the publishing schedule. These include the Vampire Hunter D: Rose Princess manga, a new limited comic book series titled Vampire Hunter D: Fortress of Blood, and The Case of Charles Dexter Ward manga. The confluence of these announcements points to a coordinated push across both cinematic distribution and print publishing sectors. This clustering of releases arrives as entertainment coverage points to a broader comeback for the Vampire Hunter D intellectual property in contemporary media markets. The combination of classic anime re-releases through theatrical and home video channels, paired with fresh manga and comic book adaptations, creates a multi-pronged approach for fans and collectors.

While individual publication dates and specific theatrical windows vary across the announced projects, the collective reporting from specialized pop-culture outlets establishes a robust pipeline of content slated for the coming publishing and release cycles. Observers and fans following the trend will be monitoring further announcements regarding exact release dates for the newly licensed theatrical features and print editions. Coverage does not yet specify complete rollout schedules beyond the December 2026 solicitations and general licensing confirmations from GKIDS and Dark Horse Comics. Future updates from the participating outlets and distributors are expected to clarify theatrical run details, home video package contents, and availability for the newly announced manga and limited comic series.
